Health is a key area of expertise for Le Page PR and I would be happy to elaborate on any of the examples below:

  • Work with the Institute for Physical Activity and Nutrition at Deakin University to position IPAN as a world class research centre.
  • Devising and implementing a successful communications strategy, including stakeholder engagement, for the award-winning Heart Foundation and VicHealth campaign “Don’t Trust Your Taste Buds in June 2016 and ongoing work for the campaign in Phase 2.
  • Eight years working with The National Heart Foundation of Australia including Heart Week, the annual Doorknock campaign and managing all media relations for the National Cardiovascular Health Unit for four years. This also led to additional projects including the Warning Signs of Heart Attack campaign, as well as the Heart Attack Fact Sheets launch in 2015.
  • Media relations for The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, leading to a national men’s health project funded by the Federal Government that generated major publicity in television, radio and print media.

New research - ”When tree-houses become screen-houses: the infiltration of screens in children’s lives”

Le Page PR managed the launch of important new research from the Institute for Physical Activity and Nutrition at Deakin University showing that we risk our children's future health by giving them too much access to screens from an early age.

This included developing a detailed media strategy involving identifying key findings from the research, developing all media materials and pitching the story as an exclusive to ABC across numerous platforms. This included an interview in the studio for the lead researcher on ABC News Breakfast, a detailed story that appeared on ABC evening news and an interview on the ABC Babytalk podcast.

The risks and benefits of artificial sweeteners

With more than half of Australians consuming too much sugar, artificial sweeteners may seem attractive if you 'need' to satisfy your sweet tooth.

But how good are artificial sweeteners for you? Do they contribute to weight loss or facilitate weight gain? And what impact might they have on your gut and chances of Type 2 Diabetes.

New 'active learning' program pushes to combat obesity in classrooms

Minister for Education James Merlino today launched Transform-Us! at Dandenong West Primary School with children and teachers demonstrating how movement can be easily incorporated into everyday lessons, just by adapting the way they are delivered to students.

This included pinning worksheets to easels or walls that children complete standing up, having children stand in a circle around the classroom to have a group discussion, or using playground line markings for lessons.

Transform-Us! was developed over many years by an international team of researchers led by Alfred Deakin Professor Jo Salmon, Co-Director of the Institute for Physical Activity and Nutrition at Deakin University, including a rigorous two-and-a half-year trial in 20 primary schools across Melbourne with over 220 teachers and 1600 students

MND Victoria - Pro Bono project

Le Page PR developed a public relations campaign targeting regional media for the Bendigo Walk to D'Feet MND event.
The campaign secured a broad range of media coverage across regional TV, radio and print, helping to pre-promote the event and encourage Bendigo residents to support those living with Motor Neurone Disease.
The Walk to d'Feet MND attracted families and friends, who banded together to raise awareness of the uncommon disease. By walking around Lake Weeroona in their event t-shirts, they also helped to raise money for MND Victoria.
